it seems that more and more news stories come out that ron paul is in with a chance of becoming the 2012 american president.

i remember 4 years ago there was a similar buzz around ron paul and him becoming the 2008 president by a lot of people, but of course that is all history and barack obama came out of nowhere and took the limelight away from all the other hopefuls.

this time around there is definitely a bigger buzz and following around ron paul then there was 4 years ago, but will ron paul just fizzle out in 2012, just like happened 4 years ago?.

this is what i think could happen anyway, as 4 years ago a lot of people were saying ron paul had a chance at becoming the 2008 american president, but in reality he had no chance, or enough money behind him, which seems to be the most important deciding factor on who becomes a united states president, barack obama had the money behind him 4 years ago and this is what really helped him get elected as president.

and i just do not see ron paul having enough financial backing in 2012 to be able to get a decent chance of becoming president of america in 2012.

of course it is still very early in the presidential race to be able to tell what is going to happen, and when guessing the outcome, hunches are all you have, a better picture should start emerging by the start of 2012.

in ron paul's favour his support base is definitely growing and his policies do ring true with a lot of american voters.

the thing with north korea though is that the country operates behind a kind of iron curtain a bit like how the old soviet union operated, and how china used to operate though china seems to have opened up more in recent years.

i think so anyway, facebook will still be as big as ever in 2012, at the moment there are only 2 major players when it comes to web destinations and that is google and facebook.

google is still in front of facebook, but over the years facebook has closed the gap, in usage and popularity to google, this seems to be what triggered google to launch its only social network called google+ and heavily change the classic google platform that made it number 1 and kept it number one for the last 10 years.

whereas facebook is still the most favourite social network out there, and only second to google in web popularity, i do not see these statistics changing in 2012 for facebook and google.

the way facebook did so well, was it actually got so many users to login and register to it, whereas google had always been just a open page you used to web browse, facebooks power and brilliance was in getting so many people to actually take the time of registering and being to login day after day for years.

what online games are you finding yourself playing online, and what is the aim of spending hours and hours playing free online mmorpg games or any games for that matter?.

i always spent hours and hours a week addictive to playing my most favourite pc games like a football manager game and some action adventure games, that is until my pc went faulty and will now not load any games, and so i found myself not playing those, but did migrate to playing some of the free online mmorpg games.

yet again hours go by with all the gain being online winning in fictitious scenarios without any real world meaning or applications, all you really learn is how to be good at playing the particular game.

so in a practical sense there is not to be gained from playing the online games, so that is a negative, there are positives to being addicted to playing online games, if you have time to fill and nothing to do in that time, then the games can be a good way to avoid boredom.

i suppose it is similar to the way most people watch tv as there evening and even weekend recreation, and this was one of the most traditional pastimes for probably the last 40 years or so.

i still watch tv and go online as well, lots of options with these new modern age past times involving technology, i guess the best thing is though not to let the technology rule your life.

with the rise and rise of social media, it looks like people are getting quite integrated with there machines and software, though facebook's appeal is in its simplicity and plain pages, will in the future as technology and internet speeds get faster and more advanced, will the facebook look and style change as well.

i could see a possibility that websites like facebook and imvu or "i envy you" integrate with each other to give a more personalised user experience.

was weird watching x factor final at the wembley arena with over 10,000 in the audience, and may have effected the acoustics and sound at the start it seemed, but as the final went on the sound seemed to get better and more crisper.

the things you will need are a valid email address, if not you have to call a x factor 2012 hotline phone number but this will cost money, and so it is probably best to apply via the online website by having a valid email address, which i think everyone nowadays has a valid email address?.

if you do not have a valid email address you can easily get a email account and address through windows live website, and i presume this would be a okay and valid email address to apply for next years x factor 2012 auditions.

but i am not sure exactly what the x factor applications website means by a "valid" email address though.

i would just think a email address that you can send and receive emails from is a valid email address to be used for applying online with for next years x factor 2012 auditions, but now i am not sure.

how do i delete a facebook page that i made, created 2011, okay this is a update to my previous post about that i could not delete my facebook "group" turns out it was because mine is a facebook "page" and not a group.

to delete a facebook "group" the advice people are giving turns out to be accurate, which they basically say to go up to the top right of your facebook "group" and click see all, on the page that follows firstly delete all the people who joined your "group", then lastly delete yourself who is the admin, this deletes a facebook group correctly.

the problem i had was that advice did not work for deleting a facebook "page", now i know there is a difference between a facebook page to facebook group, i looked for advice on how to delete my facebook page which is a different process to the one for deleting a group.

to delete my facebook "page" i need to do this process this is how facebook describes the process below-

"To delete your Page or Place:

1, Click Edit Page in the upper-right corner of your Page
2, Select Manage Permissions from the left sidebar
3, Click Delete [Your Page Name]

You will have the option to unpublish or delete your Page. If you delete your Page, you'll have 14 days to change your mind. After that, your Page will be permanently deleted."

this is why i was perplexed in the previous blog post about trying to delete the facebook page because i was trying to use advice about deleting a facebook group and not page which is what i had created and wanted to delete.

so first when going through this process and before you go to delete something off facebook like a page or group, you need to first check what it actually is, as the process of deleting a facebook group is very different to the process of deleting a facebook page.

and it can be confusing because both look very similar to each other, and it confused me before a realised the difference when it comes to how you go about removing facebook groups and pages from your account.

how to delete a facebook group 2011 on the new facebook fan style pages applications, was something i was finding very difficult to achieve there are many online guides on how to do this but they will not work on my facebook group page, and i am sure this is true for other people as well.

UPDATE WORKED IT OUT HOW TO DELETE THE FACEBOOK "PAGE" LINK

so i am quickly putting this post with another technique that might work if the other technique or way to delete a facebook group correctly is not working for you.

the problem i am having is when on my facebook group page, everyone says to delete the group first go to your top right of the page, and click on the words "see all".

on that page delete all members from your group, then when everyone is deleted from your group, you delete yourself last, this closes the facebook group fully.

this is great if this technique works for you, but when i go to the section called "see all" on my facebook group all it shows is me as the admin and does not show up my facebook members so i cannot delete them from the group this way.

so i found another way of deleting members, but they need to have posted on your facebook page, you delete there post and also delete and ban member when that option comes up, if you just delete there post, they are still members of your group and this means while you have members of your group you cannot delete the group if you just delete yourself, the group stays open and you lose administration status to alter the group.

so i am having a big problem because all the guides coming up on the internet just say to go to the top right of your facebooks groups homepage click on "see all" which should bring up a list of all the people who have joined your facebook page.

then simply delete and ban them all, lastly when you have done that delete yourself as admin and this closes the group, yet when i click see all on the page that follows it just shows me as the admin, so i am lost at the moment on how to delete this facebook page.

i will update this post when i work it out as i am sure other people are finding the same difficulty as me when it comes to deleting pages on facebook that you have created but then decide you want to delete it for whatever reason but then cannot.

and you need to delete it correctly because if you just delete yourself as admin and not all the other people in your facebook group, the page will stay open, yet you will not be able to change it anymore.

i will have to try and find how this deleting of groups and pages on the facebook website works correctly because at the moment it has perplexed me, and probably many others, even though i have read the guides that come up at the top of google search, when i looked for how to delete my groups none of the guides i have read so far are not helping me get the group deleted from my facebook account.

one option i thought of was at first if i cannot delete the group at the moment i can change the group at the least by taking away its name and taking down the picture i put up for the group on facebook at least this way less people will be joining it while i am working out how to delete the page from my facebook account.

kind of funny christmas news stories 2011 not cold enough?, this kind of funny in a strange way, in that retailers are struggling to sell winter items due to the weather in november not being cold enough.

its not funny that retailers are struggling as it will mean job losses, it was just the strange reason why they were struggling due to the weather being too warm in september and november 2011, which i thought was a good thing, until i read that it has caused problems for lots of retailers.

you see they had stocked up in september and novemeber 2011 with all kinds of cold weather clothing and switched over from the more summer items, yet the weather has not got that cold yet, and so not many people have felt the need to buy there winter warmers just yet.

you can see the predicament though, when the weather has been quite mild, i would not say it has been very warm all the time in november and september, but it has definitely been mild for this time of year.

i think retailers should not worry too much if december is really cold, but if december is mild as well, this will be have been a bad 3 months for the clothes retailers on the high street, and also online, because people do not have the need to buy big winter jackets or big thick winter jumpers when the weather is mild.

not to mention all the winter hats and gloves and scarves, but i was thinking it is good the weather being so mild, until i read that it had been so bad for retailers who wanted it to be really cold the last few months when they introduced there winter lines.

so so far christmas profits are really struggling for the big shops, with the weather being warm, everyone wants it warm, but the big shops what it cold as possible, strange situation really.

ASPO Comments: We in ASPO (The Association for the Study of Peak Oil & Gas) know that it is harder to find oil then gas, but if we accept that it might be equally easy I can make the following conclusion:

Today we have a daily production of 75 million barrels per day. If we in 2015 need 80 percent of this as new production we must open new oilfields that can give 60 million barrels per day. To understand how impossible this is I like to make a comparison with the top production of 6 million barrels per day in the North Sea. The question is where can we find 10 new regions of the size of the North Sea? Maybe can the production in Iraq with enormous investments increase with 6 million barrels per day.

I think that it would be a miracle if the rest of the countries in the Middle East can increase the production with 6 million barrels per day. That the rest of the world can find over 40 million barrels of new production is just a dream.

The five strategies humans have adopted for capturing increasing amount of energy have permitted societies to grow in size, scope, and complexity. However, it is important to note that the ramp of history, rising upward from the simplest Paleolithic hunter-gatherer bands to the heights of globalized industrial civilization, has not been a smooth one. Many civilizations have expanded their scope and complexity dramatically, only to dissolve back into simpler forms of social organization.

The ancient Egyptians, Romans, Mayas, Greeks, Minoans, Mesopotamians, Harappans, and Chacoans provide a wealth of material for investigation. Why would a group of people intelligent enough to have built impressive temples, roads, and cities and organizing a far-flung empire suddenly lose the ability to maintain them?

The literature on the subject is voluminous and includes speculation on the causes of collapse ranging from class conflict to mismanagement. Undoubtedly, the best modern research on this subject was done by archaeologist Joseph Tainter, whose book 'The Collapse of Complex Societies' (1988) is now widely recognized as the standard work on the topic. In his book and related essays, Tainter takes an ecological view of society as an energy-processing structure and concludes that complex societies tend to collapse because their strategies for energy capture are subject to the law of diminishing returns.

More complex societies are more costly to maintain than simpler ones.

Western civilization from the Middle Ages to the present illustrates the theory in a somewhat different way as it has recovered and undergone at least two even greater growth surges due to its ability to find and exploit new energy subsidies at critical moments.

The discovery of fossil fuels, the greatest energy subsidy ever known enabled the transformation of civilization itself into a form never before seen: industrialism.

This does not mean, however, that industrial civilization is immune to the law of diminishing returns. Over time, the amount of energy that must be expended to find and extract each barrel of oil, or to mine each ton of coal, increases.

Tainter ends his book by drawing the following sobering conclusion: “However much we like to think of ourselves as something special in world history, in fact industrial societies are subject to the same principles that caused earlier societies to collapse.”

Industrialism

"Marion King Hubbert first announced in 1949, that the fossil-fuel era would prove to be very brief.

The life of industrial civilization will be a “horridly short” pulse lasting roughly 100 years (from 1930 to 2030), with its high point corresponding to the peak of global per-capita energy use - which occurred in 1979.

Hubbert immediately grasped the vast economic and social implications of this information. He understood the role of fossil fuels in the creation of the modern industrial world, and thus foresaw the wrenching transition that would likely occur following the peak in global extraction rates. In lectures and articles, starting in the 1950s, Hubbert outlined how society needed to change in order to prepare for a post-petroleum regime.

Hubbert was quoted as saying that we are in a “crisis in the evolution of human society.” You can only use oil once.

This is within the lifetimes of most people now alive. This foreseeable energy crisis will affect everyone on earth.

This period of overwhelming transformative change has sometimes been called the “Petroleum Era” or the “Industrial Age, “ but, in view of its relative brevity, it may be more appropriate to call in the “Petroleum Interval” or the “Industrial Bubble.”

The sooner the general public understands the situation industrial societies are in, the less suffering will occur as we make the inevitable but painful transition to a new energy regime.

In the near-term future, secure access to resources will depend not only on the direct control of oil fields and pipelines but also on successful competition with other bidders for available supplies. Eventually, the US will need to curtail European and Japanese access to resources wherever possible. [and too, China]

Food and Population

Prospects for increasing food production above the global level of demand are dim - largely due to continued population growth.

Add to this already grim picture the spectre of oil depletion. It is not difficult imagine the likely agricultural consequences of dramatic price hikes for the gasoline or diesel fuel used to run farm machinery or to transport food long distances, or for nitrogen fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides made from oil and natural gas. The agricultural miracle of the 20th century may become the agricultural apocalypse of the 21st.

How many people will post-industrial agriculture be able to support?

This is an extremely important question, but one that is difficult to answer. A safe estimate would be this: as many people as were supported before agriculture was industrialized - that is the population at the beginning of the 20th century, or somewhat fewer than two billion people.

This poses a serious problem, since there are currently over six billion of us and our numbers are still growing.

The picture drawn is a profoundly disturbing one. It depicts a century of impending famine, disease, economic collapse, despotism, and resource wars. The reader may be wondering: Is this author deliberately exaggerating the perils ahead in order to make a point? Or is he simply a gloomy and depressed individual projecting his neuroses onto the world?

The future projections represent the likely outcomes of present trends. The emotional responses run the gamut from shock, denial, despair, and rage to eventual acceptance.

The fact remains: as long as we trade on false hopes, we only dig deeper the hole we’re already in. We have arrived at a point where global societal collapse - meaning a reversion to a lower level of complexity - is likely, and perhaps certain, over the next few decades.

The process of getting from here to there is likely to be horrendously difficult, and the desirability of the outcome will depend to a very high degree on actions taken now.

Everything you touch, any mode of transportation you take, all the food you eat has been provided with the benefit of this most energy-rich fuel source. No other fuel source has such a high Energy Return on Energy Invested ratio (EROEI). Our society has been built on this fuel source - one that is finite.

Obviously, it would run out sometime. That time is now - within our lifetime.

With current consumption rates, oil reserves will be depleted in 25 to 30 years, yet demand is increasing. The timeline is ever declining.

Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facilities are not expected to be developed by the end of the decade. There are no terminals and no tanker fleet - these will cost billions and take time.

Nuclear power is not without it's issues. If the immense expenditures for plant construction and safety, reactor decommissioning, and waste storage are taken into account, nuclear power is very expensive.

The new CANDU reactor reprocesses spent fuel in the form of MOX (mixed oxide), which consists of a mixture of plutonium and uranium oxides. Only two MOX plants have been built (UK and France) and both have turned out to be environmental and financial nightmares.

Conventional reactors use the traditional fuel of uranium. The mining, refining and concentration process is wasteful and polluting. Much of the energy needed for these processes comes from... oil. No country in the world has yet succeeded in building a permanent high-level nuclear waste repository. Needless to say, transporting of waste to a central repository would create extra dangers.

Physicist David Goodstein writes in Out of Gas: The End of the Age of Oil -- "Is there enough uranium around for that to be a long-term solution? Just like oil reserves, as at an earlier time, uranium reserves will surely increase, as a result of both further exploration and advancing technology. However, known reserves are estimated to be enough to supply all of Earth's energy needs - at the current rate of energy consumption - for a period of only five to twenty-five years. That ignores the growing world demand for power, as well as the Hubbert's peak effect, which just as valid for uranium as for oil."

Planet earth has been scoured and raped of its mineral resources. The large, 'easy to extract' finds have been made. Here too, depletion is the watchword.
There is no equivalent energy replacement - this is not a debatable issue, this is an unpleasant fact.

Petro-chemical products touch every aspect of our lives - the car we drive (gasoline, interior mouldings, exterior coatings), clothing, stereo and computer housing, paint on the walls of our houses and offices, the plastic packaging used for food, the shampoo bottle in the shower. The list is endless.

Chemicals used for manufacturing processes and fertilizers will become scarce and expensive.

There will be no hydrogen economy.

Right now, there is a deluge of stories on the wonders of hydrogen. Yet, this is another area of great confusion. Hydrogen is not a primary source of energy. For a Hydrogen Era to occur you need an abundance of natural gas, or you need to create a great deal of new power plants using coal and nuclear power. As well, all these energy 'sources' require fossil fuels for extraction, construction of buildings and equipment, transportation of materials. EVERYTHING is tied to hydrocarbons.

Fuels cells for automobiles are not as viable as the promoters would like us to think. Banc of America comments, "On the best-case scenario, fuel cells are expected to become viable only beyond 2020." If hydrogen was feasible, building the infrastructure would take decades and billions of dollars.

And if by a miracle, these cells were viable and the hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks could be retrofitted for fuel cells, where would the energy come from to fill these?

Most importantly, the process of hydrogen production always uses more energy than the resulting hydrogen will yield. The Second Law of Thermodynamics insures that hydrogen will be a net-energy loser every time since some usable energy is lost whenever it is transformed (from hydrogen to electricity, electricity to hydrogen, etc.).

Where will the petroleum products come from to build and maintain roads? Asphalt incorporates large quantities of oil. Airlines use copious amounts high-grade kerosene refined from oil. Transportation will change dramatically.

Where will the chemicals come from for fertilizer production? The great agricultural miracle of the 20th century dates back to nitrogen for fertilizer and increasing food crops. Food travels thousands of miles, by just-in-time delivery, to reach its customers. When the national truck fleet experiences gas rationing, how will large cities receive food from the agricultural regions? Supermarkets fully stocked with imported produce will be a thing of the past. Prices will be high.

Cities do not grow enough food within reasonable proximity. Suburban homeowners will have no choice but to turn their lawns into food gardens. What will city and apartment dwellers do?

Will we continue to build what are really unnecessarily large homes, which we heat in the winter and then cool down in the summer? Is it necessary to keep building these large new big box retail outlets with high ceilings and extensive lighting? Both these activities must stop! By choice and planning now or by necessity and haphazard approach later. Building codes must reflect this new reality and communities must be redesigned around mass transit. There will be no more suburbia.

There will be less foreign tourists as traveling will become expensive. In summer, the weekly trip to the cottage will be costly and best saved for the annual holiday.

Economic activity will decline. Jobs will be lost.

In simple terms, our financial system essentially represents debt and structurally it is built on perpetual economic growth to service this debt. As raw materials (in addition to hydrocarbons) face depletion -- "China has sucked the cupboard bare of raw materials" -- prices will soar. So too will the cost of goods and services. Economic activity will decline as demand decreases; government revenues will be reduced and there will be added strain on support services -- Economics 101. Population growth will add further pressure.

But the real kicker: planet earth will never again experience the economic industrial growth made possible by the utilization of fossil fuels. At some point in the future, a global financial crisis will not be unexpected.

Clearly, the issue at hand is how to best manage the decline of our society to one that is simpler and less complex.

Richard Heinberg: "Virtually all of the authors who have contributed to the literature on sustainability tell us that, in order for a transition to a lower-complexity and lower-throughput society to occur without a chaotic collapse, humanity will have to take a systemic approach to resource management and population reduction.

It is the scale of the problems that beset us now that is unique. The steep expansion in scale of the human population size and the consumption of resources that has characterized modern societies is almost entirely due to industrialism and the use of fossil fuels. And many of the largest problems we are to likely encounter in this century will be due to the depletion of those fuels."

(The depletion of those fuels and the realization of the consequences has for quite sometime been the driving force behind geo-political events.)

Shell says reserves over-estimated: In a statement, the world's third biggest oil company in terms of production said it would trim its proved oil and gas reserves by a fifth, down to 15.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent from 19.5 billion boe estimated at December 2002. Based on current production, Shell's move cuts its reserve life to 10.6 years from 13.4 years. Shell also warned that it will replace only 70%-90% of its 2003 oil and gas with new finds.

There is no equivalent energy replacement - this is not a debatable issue, this is an unpleasant fact.

Right now, there is a deluge of stories on the wonders of hydrogen. Yet, this is another area of great confusion. Hydrogen is not a primary source of energy. For a Hydrogen Era to occur you need an abundance of natural gas, or you need to create a great deal of new power plants using coal and nuclear power. As well, all these energy 'sources' require fossil fuels for extraction, construction of buildings and equipment, transportation of materials. EVERYTHING is tied to hydrocarbons.

The discovery of fossil fuels, the greatest energy subsidy ever known enabled the transformation of civilization itself into a form never before seen: industrialism.

Richard Heinberg writes in, The Party's Over: Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies:

"Marion King Hubbert first announced in 1949, that the fossil-fuel era would prove to be very brief.

The life of industrial civilization will be a “horridly short” pulse lasting roughly 100 years (from 1930 to 2030), with its high point corresponding to the peak of global per-capita energy use - which occurred in 1979.

Hubbert immediately grasped the vast economic and social implications of this information. He understood the role of fossil fuels in the creation of the modern industrial world, and thus foresaw the wrenching transition that would likely occur following the peak in global extraction rates. In lectures and articles, starting in the 1950s, Hubbert outlined how society needed to change in order to prepare for a post-petroleum regime.

Hubbert was quoted as saying that we are in a “crisis in the evolution of human society.” You can only use oil once.

L.F. Ivanhoe is the founder of the M. King Hubbert Centre for Petroleum Supply Studies. Ivanhoe calls Hubbert’s followers “Casandras,” after the mythological Trojan princess who could foretell the future but was doomed never to be believed.

INTERGENERATIONAL CONFLICT: even if not explicitly told that this is this case, young people will likely intuitively understand that, within the lifetime of the babyboomer generation, over half of the total petroleum reserves of the planet have been used up. Everywhere they will see evidence of the extravagant party their elders have thrown, while for themselves there will be only dregs left over.

With ever fewer economic opportunities available, they may feel an unspeakable resentment toward older people who have frittered away the world’s endowment of natural resources, leaving almost nothing for their children or grandchildren.

In the near-term future, secure access to resources will depend not only on the direct control of oil fields and pipelines but also on successful competition with other bidders for available supplies. Eventually, the US will need to curtail European and Japanese access to resources wherever possible. [and too, China]

Prospects for increasing food production above the global level of demand are dim - largely due to continued population growth.

Add to this already grim picture the spectre of oil depletion. It is not difficult imagine the likely agricultural consequences of dramatic price hikes for the gasoline or diesel fuel used to run farm machinery or to transport food long distances, or for nitrogen fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides made from oil and natural gas. The agricultural miracle of the 20th century may become the agricultural apocalypse of the 21st.

How many people will post-industrial agriculture be able to support?

This is an extremely important question, but one that is difficult to answer. A safe estimate would be this: as many people as were supported before agriculture was industrialized - that is the population at the beginning of the 20th century, or somewhat fewer than two billion people.

After reviewing the optimistic and the pessimistic arguments, at the end of the day we are still left with something like two billion as an educated guess for planet Earth’s sustainable, long-term, post-petroleum carrying capacity for humans.

This poses a serious problem, since there are currently over six billion of us and our numbers are still growing.

Petro-chemical products touch every aspect of our lives - the car we drive (gasoline, interior mouldings, exterior coatings), clothing, stereo and computer housing, paint on the walls of our houses and offices, the plastic packaging used for food, the shampoo bottle in the shower. The list is endless.

Chemicals used for manufacturing processes and fertilizers will become scarce and expensive.

This energy crisis affects all aspects of government, not just the Ministry of Energy.

Transportation - Fuels cells for automobiles are not as viable as the promoters would like us to think. If by a miracle, these cells were viable and the hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks could be retrofitted for fuel cells, where would the energy come from to fill these?

The Task Force weakly suggested, "...the use of off-peak power to produce hydrogen for use in fuel cells...” An entire hydrogen energy infrastructure would require investments of large amounts of money and energy.

Most importantly, the process of hydrogen production always uses more energy than the resulting hydrogen will yield. The Second Law of Thermodynamics insures that hydrogen will be a net-energy loser every time since some usable energy is lost whenever it is transformed (from hydrogen to electricity, electricity to hydrogen, etc.).

Where will the petroleum products come from to build and maintain roads? Asphalt incorporates large quantities of oil. Airlines use copious amounts high-grade kerosene refined from oil. Transportation will change dramatically.

Agriculture - Where will the chemicals come from for fertilizer production? The great agricultural miracle of the 20th century dates back to nitrogen for fertilizer and increasing food crops. Dale Allen Pfieffer has already documented that in the US, more and more fossil fuels are used to produce less and less food. Even with fertilizer, modern agricultural methods will ensure Ontario food production will decline.

The success of the Cuban 'anti-model' of agriculture (they had to deal with the sudden drop of Soviet oil supplies) offers direction for Ontario agricultural policy.

(Supermarkets fully stocked with imported produce will be a thing of the past. Prices will be high.)

Housing - Will we continue to build what are really unnecessarily large homes, which we heat in the winter and then cool down in the summer? Is it necessary to keep building these large new big box retail outlets with high ceilings and extensive lighting?

Both these activities must stop! By choice and planning now or by necessity and haphazard approach later. Building codes must reflect this new reality.

Healthcare - Hospitals are virtual 24/7 cities. They require enormous amounts of reliable energy. There is a growing need for homes for the aged. They will need reliable energy.

Traveling and Tourism - There will be less foreign tourists, as traveling will become expensive. In summer, the weekly trip to the cottage will be costly and best saved for the annual holiday. Gone will be the days of spending the day 'out in the boat'.

Economic activity will decline. Jobs will be lost.

ALL government policy must look to the trends of over 25 years not 10. Without choice, the Ontario way of life IS negotiable. Will we negotiate from strength or from weakness?

Clearly, the issue at hand is how to best manage the decline of our society to one that is simpler and less complex.

Enfield Town centre, Enfield Town Park and alleyways between there and the Palace Garden shopping centre were being guarded by police. A heavy police presence was seen outside Enfield Town railway station where people arriving were being searched for security reasons.[28]

Riot police had arrived in Enfield Town by the afternoon of 7 August as several small groups of hooded youngsters arrived in cars, buses and trains. Around 100 people were waiting in small groups in the vicinity of Enfield Town station in Southbury Road.[7]
Some disorder sparked from around 17:30; a police car in Church Street was pelted with bricks.[29] HMV's branch in Church Street was amongst the other shops that were reportedly attacked.[30] A police helicopter hovered over the area to monitor events.[7]

At around 19:00 police tackled a group of around thirty youths to push them back onto Southbury Road towards the junction with Great Cambridge Road. Police dogs were also deployed at the scene.[30] Similar action drove back approximately fifty people along Southbury Road via Queens Street, after a preceding clash with hooligans outside a nearby supermarket.[31]

Police have condemned a wave of "copycat criminal activity" across London in a second night of looting and disorder following riots in Tottenham.

Disorder spread to Enfield, Walthamstow and Waltham Forest in north London and to Brixton in the south of the city.

Some 35 officers have been injured over the two nights of rioting.

On Sunday evening, 7 August, violent disturbances erupted in Enfield, to the North of Tottenham, among heavy presence of riot police.[23]

Enfield Town centre, Enfield Town Park and alleyways between there and the Palace Garden shopping centre were being guarded by police. A heavy police presence was seen outside Enfield Town railway station where people arriving were being searched for security reasons.[24]

Riot police had arrived in Enfield Town by the afternoon of 7 August as several small groups of hooded youngsters arrived in cars, buses and trains. Around 100 people were waiting in small groups in the vicinity of Enfield Town station in Southbury Road.[5]
Some disorder sparked from around 17:30; a police car in Church Street was pelted with bricks.[25] HMV's branch in Church Street was amongst the other shops that were reportedly attacked. [26] A police helicopter hovered over the area to monitor events.[5]

At around 19:00 police tackled a group of around thirty youths to push them back onto Southbury Road towards the junction with Great Cambridge Road. Police dogs were also deployed at the scene.[27] Similar action drove back approximately fifty people along Southbury Road via Queens Street, after a preceding clash with hooligans outside a nearby supermarket.[28]

i was reading today and seeing on the news a lot of interest in why david and victoria beckham have called there new baby harper seven, as it was seen as probably being a strange name choice for a baby, though with celebrities are there ever any normal name choices.

but to get to the reason for the name harper seven should be quite obvious, if you followed david beckham's football career his shirt number at manchester united and for england was the number 7 jersey.

which is were i think the name harper seven is inspired from the name harper being a girls name anyway so that should not of been any mystery.

but when it came to second part of the beckhams new baby name there the seven would tie into david beckham's football shirt.

you might say though what would be the point of using a football shirt playing number, but also in football certain numbers have special meanings and usually only the star players in a team will get the number seven for there football shirt as well, giving david beckham's number seven football shirt number even more significance with it being a special number as well.

also what is strange that the news of the world is the most popular of the sunday newspapers, not really a time to close when the paper is the most popular sunday paper.

but more then just close it will be partially morphed into a new news paper called the sun on sunday and this looks like it will be the paper to replace the news of the world, though with a complete overhaul, to create a new paper, though not sure if that paper will launch the following week after the news of the world closes or not.

google+ plus changes search homepage 29-6-2011 social media? different colours and functions for launch of the google project

i have just noticed a few minutes ago that google has totally changed the search homepage as of 29th june 2011, the look of the homepage has changed, and also the way it works seems to have changed as well.

not saying this is a bad thing as the changes so far to the google search homepage look and seem not to be effecting the usual search experience you expect from web search engine giant google, everything seems easy and straightforward to use on the google search page.

i did notice a week or so ago that there was some changes to google search as well with the top of the screen having a black bar colour, of course the rest of the page has stayed the same classic white colour with the multicoloured words google in the centre with the simplicity of the search box underneath.

but the colours are different and the words "google search" and "i'm feeling lucky" are in little grey boxes now.

just reading as well today google launched its social network site called google+ this week so i am wondering if this is one of the reasons behind googles classic search page changing slightly.

i think the new google+ is a kind of social network site similar to facebook, but it seems google+ is only in some kind of beta testing mode at the moment and not open to the public yet, until it has been tested a bit first.

but interesting to see the classic google homepage for searches change as well as the launch of google+ this week, will be interesting to see also what google+ is like when it gets its full release date for public use in the coming months!.

this is also what i think has happened to the google homepage if you look at the old style google homepage for searching the web it has more shadows around the google letters, like in this picture below, but now with the launch of google+ testing shadows are gone?, to try the new google+ plus project though at the moment you need to have been invited as google+ is only in the testing stages at the moment.

donald trump is running for us president, would you vote for him to be next american leader?, i was very surprised to read that donald trump wants to be the next american president and stop barack obama after just 4 years as president, barack obama is probably hoping for the full 8 years in office.

i actually think donald trump probably has a really good chance of being the next american president, especially due to his fame from running his apprentice program and all of his businesses, but it does not look obama is in a rush to leave office either.

England is gripped by The Royal Wedding of Prince William & Catherine Middleton fever it would seem, if you look at most news websites now more and more stories on these websites are about the Royal Wedding of Prince William & Catherine Middleton, weeks back there was a lot of stories about the wedding dress Catherine Middleton would wear on there wedding day.

Though in contrast not so many stories about what Prince William will wear on his wedding day, though there was some stories the other day about what the prime minister david cameron will wear on the wedding day, whether just a regular suit or the more tradition style suite, now opting for the more traditional style wedding suite.

i remember the wedding of prince charles and princess diana back in the 1980's which was a massive affair with full tv coverage and all the street parties etc, this year there is going to be a lot of street parties for The Royal Wedding Prince William & Catherine Middleton but probably not as many as when prince charles and princes diana got married.

princes diana was a called the princes of hearts by the public and was very popular, so wonder if it will be the same with soon to be princess Catherine Middleton which would then be next in line to be queen Catherine Middleton, when or if prince william becomes king, but even though through marrying prince william this puts Catherine Middleton next in line to become the queen of england!.

think a new world of tanks mmo game starts this week or goes out of its beta test into a fully fledged playable game, basically based on ww2 type tanks.

i think i might give world of tanks a go to see how it plays, it looks better then most mmorpg games that are too structured whereas with world of tanks you actually get to drive around and go against other tanks driving around in a virtual environment, so it seems really realistic.

this is what greeted me this morning when turning on the google search engine homepage, was a warning underneath the search box, basically after a major earthquake hit japan there is a tsunami alert warning for countries New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others for 11,3,2011.

this is what is printed on the google web search browser home page.

so basically is warning to people who live in those countries or surrounding areas to be prepared for possible tsunamis.

so i was on the homepage of youtube, and noticed in top corner the words winning on one of there video lists on the homepage and it was a new charlie sheen winning themed music video, i watched it and it was full of the gnarly gnarlingtons and winning from a charly sheen tv interview, but was also maybe more interesting was the video has a view count of over 5 million views from 3 to 4 days of being uploaded to youtube videos.

pretty high i think anyway a video to have over 5 million going on 6 million hits in just 4 days.

i have noticed david cameron adverts popping up everywhere today, what it is about is a thing called "world view" which means the world can submit questions to leaders like david cameron, last month you could submit questions to barack obama in the same way.

at the moment there adverts for you to submit questions to david cameron, or the adverts now are that david cameron will be answering the questions on youtube, i need to see the advert again to make out what it actaully said, if it was asking for questions, or if it was a link to the answered question on a youtube video by david cameron.

right i have done a bit more reading up and you have a deadline to submit questions to david cameron by the 22nd of february 2011.

to submit question you can do it through those david cameron adverts or just go to the official youtube blog and submit your questions there, david cameron will then do probably a 30+ minute response on a youtube video, with chosen question on various political topics.

so that is what all those adverts that keep popping up on youtube and websites featuring david cameron are about.
